Choose a recovery point

Identify what went wrong, when it started and the last known working version. Save a current copy before restoring so you have a way back. Check whether the backup contains website files, its database or a complete hosting account.

Backups available to you depend on your service and how the website was installed. This guide does not promise that a particular recovery point exists.

Restore the right parts

  1. Pause work on the website and arrange a maintenance window if visitors or orders could be affected.
  2. If Installatron manages your website, open that installation and inspect its available backups. Review the date and contents before using its restore action. If no backup appears, do not reinstall the application as a recovery attempt.
  3. For a manual WordPress backup, restore matching website files and database data. Use the database import guide only after identifying the right target.
  4. For a full hosting-account backup, request help through your customer area. It may contain email and other domains as well as this website.

Check before reopening

Test the homepage, media, administration login, forms and important links. For a shop, check products, shipping and checkout using your agreed test process. Clear relevant caches once the restored site is working.

If the incident involved malware, a restore alone may bring the same problem back. Review updates, access and the original cause before reopening. Tell support the domain, chosen backup date, error and services affected.
